Welcome to ARA Mental Health Counseling Services

Here, you’re safe to feel, explore, and heal without judgement. Together, we’ll (re)discover the strength that’s already within you.

Take a deep breath, you’re exactly where you need to be.

Starting in my young adult years, I knew calling was to become a therapist based on my own lived experiences with depression, anxiety, and complex family dynamics. My first role in mental health was as a substance abuse counselor at an intensive outpatient program in Harlem, NY. This experience taught me to hold a nonjudgmental and grounding space for people navigating current struggles and past traumas.

Since then, I’ve worked in children and family services, led ACT teams, and maintained a private practice. Throughout this journey, I’ve developed a particular interest in supporting people through grief—whether from death-related losses or the many other profound losses we experience, like relationships, dreams, or versions of ourselves we thought we’d become.

The variety in my work history and my own healing journey has ignited a strong passion for supporting adults who want to rediscover their inner compass—or perhaps find it for the first time.

What was your path to becoming a therapist?

What should someone know about working with you?

The first session or two will involve gathering your history and understanding what’s happening in your life right now. After that, sessions are open and unstructured since my therapeutic approach centers on present-moment experience. Even when we’re processing past events, I’ll ask questions designed to deepen your awareness of the feelings, thoughts, sensations, or images arising in the here and now.

I believe in holistic treatment, meaning I honor all the different parts of who you are and help you integrate aspects of yourself that may carry judgement or pain—including how you process various losses and transitions. While typically don’t assign homework, I might occasionally suggest reflecting on certain aspects of our work between sessions.

As an interactive therapist, I welcome and encourage your feedback throughout our work together. I thrive working with people who are open to change, willing to embrace vulnerability and genuinely committed to this healing process.

How do your core values shape your approach to therapy?

I fundamentally value honesty and deep listening. If I feel unclear about what you’re expressing, I’ll ask for clarification—because feeling truly heard and understood is essential to healing. I also deeply value self-care, healthy boundaries, and authentic self-expression. These values create a foundation where vulnerability is met with respect, confusion is met with curiosity, and your unique path to wellness is honored above all .
