Life Transitions Therapy — Counseling for Life's Biggest Changes

Online counseling for life transitions for adults in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut who are ready to find their path forward.

When Life Shifts, It's Okay to Ask for Help

Major life transitions can shake your sense of who you are and where you're headed. Whether it's unexpected changes or ones you chose, feeling lost or uncertain about what comes next is completely understandable.

There are moments when change feels so overwhelming that moving forward seems impossible. And that's exactly when having someone in your corner can make all the difference.

You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone

Life transitions affect everyone differently.

Sometimes they look like quietly falling apart while everyone around you assumes you're fine. Other times they look like achieving something you worked toward for years and still feeling empty. And sometimes they can look like standing at a crossroads with no idea which way to turn.

Maybe you're:

  • Struggling to find your footing after a major life change

  • Feeling lost, stuck, or disconnected from who you used to be

  • Grieving a version of your life that no longer exists

  • Overwhelmed by uncertainty about what comes next

  • Carrying the weight of change without anyone who truly understands

Whatever you're feeling, it makes complete sense. If any of this sounds familiar, healing is possible — and this is exactly where our work begins.

Life Transitions I Can Help You Navigate

Every transition is unique, and so is the support you need. Here are some of the life changes I work with clients to navigate:

  • Adjusting to college life or a first professional role

  • Getting married or entering a new relationship

  • Having a new baby or navigating parenthood

  • Empty nesting

  • Breakup, separation, or divorce

  • Infidelity recovery

  • Job loss, a major career change, or retirement

  • Relocation

  • Financial gain or loss

  • Serious illness or disability

  • Aging and life stage changes

  • Questioning your sense of meaning or purpose

  • Exploring your faith or spirituality

  • Questioning your sexual or gender identity

Navigating something else? Every transition is important, and there’s space for whatever you’re going through.

What Counseling for Life Transitions Can Help You Work Through

Our work together will be guided by where you are and what you need — not a predetermined plan.

Here's what life transitions therapy can help you navigate, at a pace that feels right for you:

  • Rediscovering your sense of self - Reconnect with who you are beyond the role, relationship, or chapter that has changed.

  • Building resilience through uncertainty - Develop tools and perspective to navigate the unknown with greater confidence and steadiness.

  • Processing grief within transition - Honor what you've lost, whether or not that loss is a death, and make space for what comes next.

  • Clarifying your values and direction - Get clarity about what matters most to you and what you want from your next chapter.

  • Developing healthy coping strategies - Move through the overwhelm of change with practical, personalized support that meets you where you are.

  • Finding hope and purpose again - Rediscover your inner strength and move forward with renewed energy, direction, and hope.

FAQs About Life Transitions Therapy

  • A life transition is any significant change, whether expected or unexpected, that disrupts your sense of normalcy or identity. This can include marriage, parenthood, retirement, divorce, job loss, or relocation.

If a change is affecting your daily life and sense of self, it counts.

  • Absolutely. You don't need to have experienced a death to benefit from life transitions therapy. Any change that leaves you feeling lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself is worth exploring in a supportive space. Your experience is valid regardless of how others might perceive it.

  • Life transitions therapy is a collaborative, conversational process focused on helping you navigate change, process your feelings, and rebuild your sense of direction and purpose. As a Certified Grief-Informed Professional and Life Transitions Specialist, I bring both specialized training and extensive experience supporting adults through some of life's most significant changes.

Through virtual one-on-one sessions, you can move at a pace that feels right for you. Together we can explore where you are, what's shifted, and what support looks like as you move forward.

  • Every transition is different, and so is the support needed to move through it. Some people find meaningful progress in a shorter period, while others prefer ongoing support as they continue to grow and evolve. We'll work together to figure out what feels right for you and adjust as your needs change.

  • I am a private-pay practice, meaning I don't bill insurance directly. This allows us to focus entirely on your needs without the limitations that insurance can sometimes place on care. A superbill can be provided upon request if you'd like to seek potential reimbursement through your insurance provider.

  • Life transitions therapy sessions are $200 for a 60-minute session. Payment is due at the time of your session, and all major credit cards are accepted, as well as Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

  • To get started, reach out to schedule a free 15-minute chat. No commitment, no pressure — a chance to connect and see if working together feels like the right fit. From there, we can find a time for your first full session and begin your healing journey together.
